The Bag Lady Foundation
Supporting Women & Families In Need
In 2012, Paula Deen established The Bag Lady Foundation, named after her first business, to provide hope, inspiration and support to women and families during their time of need.
The mission of The Bag Lady Foundation is to improve the well-being, health and independence of women, children and families, with a focus in two areas:
Nourishment: Providing food, food education and support of community efforts to feed the hungry.
Nurturing: Providing support to organizations that help women in need get back on their feet and become self-sufficient.
Of the foundation's mission, Paula says, "There is nothing worse than a child or a family going to bed hungry. And, of course, coming from where I came from, supporting the needs of single moms is something that is near and dear to my heart. I want women to feel the same kind of empowerment that has helped guide me to where I am today."
The Bag Lady Foundation receives funding through charitable contributions, as well as a portion of proceeds from Paula Deen Food sales.
