  • 1 (14 oz) round of brie
  • 1 tablespoon brandy
  • 1/4 cup chopped or pecans macadamia nuts
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • wedges of apple
  • wedges of pear

Spread the sugar mixture in an even layer on top of the warm Brie and bake for 2 to 3 minutes longer, or until the sugar melts. Brush the fruit wedges with lemon juice and arrange them around one side of the Brie. Place crackers around the other side.

I made this on Thanksgiving and it was a huge hit. I had never prepared or eaten brie before, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but I'm glad I gave it a try. Everyone loved it & wants me to make it again for Christmas.

I made this several years ago at Christmas because I needed to come up with an appetizer, the stores were closed, and i had these ingredients on hand. It was rich, flavorful, easy to make and tasted special. I've made it many times since, and haven't adjusted the recipe in any way (unusual for me). It has always generated compliments, and there are never leftovers. Thank you, Paula!

Is there anything you could use to substitute for the brandy?

You could possibly try substituting apple juice if you don't want to use alcohol. If you're just not a fan of brandy, you could use bourbon or dark rum, but it will change the flavor profile.
