Difficulty: Easy

Prep time: 10 minutes

Cook time: 10 minutes

Servings: 10

Ingredients

  • for frying peanut oil
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup hot sauce
  • 2 cups self rising flour
  • 1 cup finely ground, plus 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 2 1/2 lb cut into pieces whole chicken
  • 2 tablespoons recipe follows The Lady and Sons House Seasoning
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1/2 cup honey

Directions

In a deep cast-iron skillet or heavy Dutch oven, pour oil to a depth of 2 inches; heat to 350 °F.

In a medium bowl, beat the eggs and 1/4 cup water. Stir in the hot sauce; the egg mixture will be bright orange. In another bowl, combine the flour and 1 cup finely ground pecans.

Sprinkle the chicken with House Seasoning. Dip the seasoned chicken into the egg mixture; dredge in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess flour. Fry the chicken in batches, in the hot oil, until browned and crispy, 10 to 15 minutes. Drizzle with Sweet Pecan Glaze.

The Lady and Sons House Seasoning:

1 cup salt

1/4 cup black pepper

1/4 cup garlic powder

Mix the salt, pepper and garlic together and store in an airtight container for up to 6 months.

Honey Pecan Glaze:

In a small saucepan over low heat, add the butter, honey and 1/2 cup chopped pecans. Simmer until it thickens, about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

I made this for Memorial Day. Sooooo delicious and moist and delictible. I never thought I could make good fried chicken at home. The best chicken I've ever eaten since I visited Lady and Sons.
