JUMP TO RECIPE

Difficulty: Easy

Prep time: 3 minutes

Cook time: 3 minutes

Servings: 3

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 small finely chopped onion
  • 3 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 dash Paula Deen Hot Sauce
  • to taste kosher salt
  • to taste black pepper
  • 4 split soft sandwich buns

Directions

Heat a large, high-sided skillet over medium-high heat and add the beef. Cook, while stirring, breaking it up with the back of a wooden spoon to make it crumbly.

Once some fat has rendered, toss in the onion, garlic, and cook until no pink remains in the beef and onion is tender, about 5 minutes.

Stir in the ketchup, water, light brown sugar, Worcestershire, hot sauce and season generously with salt and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes. Serve on sandwich rolls.

I made this for the family today and it was a hit! Plus, we have lots of left-overs for lunches. Considering that he would have gotten something at the local McDonald's drive-thru, it's a deal! You saved me $12 with this meal alone. I'm doing the happy dance. Love y'all!

The ingredients list calls for half a cup of prepared soup, but the recipe calls for soup mix. Does this mean that I should use enough dry mix to make a half a cup of soup? This is my first time looking for a recipe on this site, and I can't imagine that this one was reviewed by Paula (or anybody else at all) before being posted.
