Difficulty: Easy
Prep time: 30 minutes
Cook time: 60 minutes
Servings: 15
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups self rising flour
- 1 stick butter
- ½ cup water
- 2 cups sugar, divided
- 4 cups peaches, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup milk
- ground cinnamon, optional
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 °F.
Combine the peaches, 1 cup sugar, and water in a saucepan and mix well. Bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from the heat.
Put the butter in a 3-quart baking dish and place in oven to melt.
Mix remaining 1 cup sugar, flour, and milk slowly to prevent clumping. Pour mixture over melted butter. Do not stir.
Spoon fruit on top, gently pouring in syrup. Sprinkle top with ground cinnamon, if using. Batter will rise to top during baking. Bake for 30 to 45 minutes.
To serve, scoop onto a plate and serve with your choice of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

I would check this site out for how to adjust recipes for high altitude! https://www.kingarthurbaking.com/learn/resources/high-altitude-baking
Can I use fresh peaches that I froze to make the peach cobbler?
The Deen Team
Absolutely!
The Deen Team
Yes here is her recipe using canned peaches:
INGREDIENTS
1⁄4 cup butter
1 cup sugar
3⁄4 cup self-rising flour
3⁄4 cup milk
1 (28 ounce) can peach slices in heavy syrup, undrained (or use fresh if available, see note)
cinnamon, for sprinkling (optional, use only with peach or apple cobbler)
DIRECTIONS
Yes it can be frozen for up to 3 months!
At the end of the video, she says she didn't quite use a full cup and also that she prefers a juicier cobbler which is why she used more than the 1/2 cup the recipe calls for!
It will make enough batter for 1 13x9 inch pan of peach cobbler, rising to the top of the pan during cooking.
Can you use canned peaches for the peach cobbler? Would you drain the juice? Thanks
Yes you should drain them when using canned peaches.
Can I use canned peaches for the Peach Cobbler?
The Deen Team
Yes, get the canned peaches in syrup and use the syrup instead of the sugar water! The batter will be gooier depending on how much liquid you use. Paula likes hers to be wetter and gooier, so she uses more syrup!
How do you know it's done
The Deen Team
The batter will have risen, it will be a golden-brown color, bubbly, and it won't jiggle!
