Orange Ooey Gooey Butter Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 (10.25-ounce) package orange cake mix
  • 3 eggs, divided
  • 16 tablespoons butter, melted, divided
  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 2 teaspoons orange extract
  • zest and juice of 1 small orange
  • 1 (16-oz) box powdered sugar

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 °F.

Combine the cake mix, 1 egg, and 8 tablespoons of the melted butter and mix well with an electric mixer. Pat the mixture into the bottom of a lightly greased 13 by 9-inch baking pan.

In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add the remaining 2 eggs, orange extract, orange juice, and 8 tablespoons butter, and beat together.

Next, add the powdered sugar and mix well. Fold in the orange zest.

Spread over cake batter and bake for 40 to 50 minutes. Make sure not to over bake as the center should be a little gooey.
