Ingredients
Cream Cheese Cookies
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- sprinkles, for decoration
Buttercream Frosting
- 4 cups confectioners' sugar
- 12 tbsp butter, softened
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
Directions
Cream Cheese Cookies
Preheat oven to 350˚F.
Cream together the shortening and cream cheese. Add the sugar, egg yolks, and vanilla, and mix thoroughly. Add the flour and salt and mix until combined.
Drop the cookie dough by the teaspoons onto un-greased cookie sheets. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes.
Once the cookies are cooled, frost with buttercream and top with sprinkles.
Cook’s Notes: This batter should be thick (similar to Play-Doh). Use a spoon to drop onto cookie sheets instead of a cookie scoop because it will add extra texture on top of the cookie, which turns golden when baking, and it adds a really nice flavor and texture.
Buttercream Frosting
Mix together the butter, sugar and vanilla until creamy.
