Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons cut into small bits cold butter
  • 1 1/4 cups 5 ounces shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh chives

Directions

Place a rack in the center of the oven and preheat to 425 °F. Grease a baking sheet with butter, oil, or cooking spray.

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Cut in the butter with a pastry blender, your hands, or two knives until the mixture resembles a coarse meal. Add 1 cup of the Cheddar and the chives to the flour mixture and toss to combine. Using a rubber spatula, fold the buttermilk into the flour mixture until all of the flour is moistened.

Using an ice cream scoop or a large spoon, scoop the mixture and place on the prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle the remaining ¼ cup Cheddar over the biscuits. Bake until light golden brown and firm to the touch, 13 to 15 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature.

These are the best biscuits ever! They are very simple to make and taste best right out of the oven!

How is it possible that no one has reviewed this recipe?!? These biscuits are better than the ones at Red Lobster! and I thought I would never say that about another biscuit! Paula DOES rock!
