Ingredients
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- ½ cup chopped Vidalia onion, or comparable sweet onion
- 1 tablespoon Paula Deen Steak Seasoning Rub
- 1 tablespoon steak sauce
- 5 slices American, Swiss, or sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 egg yolk
Directions
Let frozen pastry dough sit at room temperature for 20 minutes. Mix beef, onion, Paula Deen Steak Seasoning Rub, and steak sauce with your hands. Form beef mixture into 5 small flat patties.
Working in batches of 2, place patties in air fryer basket. Set temperature to 350 degrees, and air fry for 5 minutes per side. Remove patties to a platter and place one slice cheese on each burger.
Roll puff pastry sheet to flatten slightly. Cut into 5 even triangles. Cover each beef patty with a piece of puff pastry and wrap it around the bottom, pinching all edges to seal. Whisk together egg yolk and 1 tablespoon of water to make egg wash. Brush each pastry-wrapped patty with egg wash.
Line air fryer basket with parchment paper. Working in batches, place cheeseburgers in air fryer basket in a single layer. Set temperature to 400 degrees, and air fry for 5 minutes. Turn cheeseburgers, and air fry for 5 minutes more. Repeat with remaining burgers.
