There’s something to be said for finding a place where you belong—a place where you can put down roots. While some of us here on the Paula Deen team are Southern natives and some are transplants, we’ve all put down Southern roots. We’ve forged relationships, started careers, made homes, embarked on new adventures, and accomplished so much more in this very special place. Whether we were born in this place or we consciously chose to make a home of it shouldn’t matter. What matters when it comes to the South, sure it’s the place where we live, but it’s also a place we love and a state of being we embody.
In honor of our Southern roots, we’re sharing some recipes for Southern dishes made from delicious root veggies. Carrots, onions, potatoes, beets, turnips—we’ve got ‘em all right here. We’d love to hear your Southern experience, no matter where you call home, in the comments below. And if you’d like to share your favorite ways to cook with root vegetables, we’d love to hear those too!
